As a wedding filmmaker, I’m always drawn to places that feel. That hold emotion in their bones and lend themselves naturally to storytelling. These five locations are some of my favourites in the world to capture love, places where beauty isn’t just seen, it’s felt.
Italy
Italy is a love story in itself. From the rolling hills of Tuscany to the dramatic cliffs of the Amalfi Coast, it has an effortless romance that’s impossible to replicate. There’s something about the golden light, the way time seems to slow down, the wine flowing late into the night. Whether you’re exchanging vows in a 13th-century villa or beneath olive trees at sunset, Italy offers a kind of cinematic richness that turns every frame into art. And the audio? Think vespas, laughter, distant church bells, and the clink of glasses raised in celebration.
Greece
Whitewashed buildings, endless blue seas, and sunsets – Greece is where elegance meets mythology. Mykonos and Santorini are iconic spot for destination weddings, but the real magic lies in the little things: lazy boat trips, hand-holding on stone steps, the scent of citrus in the air. The natural contrast of sun and shadow, light and colour, creates the kind of visuals that translates beautifully into a wedding film.
Maldives
For couples who want their wedding to feel like a dream you never want to wake up from, the Maldives is a world of its own. Picture crystal-clear water, powder-white sand, and ceremonies that happen barefoot at golden hour. There’s an intimacy to island weddings that’s hard to find elsewhere… a quiet luxury that feels deeply personal. From drone shots over turquoise lagoons to slow, wind-blown vows at sunset, every detail lends itself to something soft, emotional, and timeless on film.
France
France offers that perfect blend of history, style, and atmosphere. Whether it’s a chateau in the Loire Valley, a candlelit garden in Provence, or a modern soirée in Paris, there’s a level of detail and sophistication that feels effortlessly chic. The architecture, the fashion, the food – everything carries a sense of occasion. And yet, it’s often the quietest moments that make the best memories: a pre-ceremony espresso in a cobbled courtyard, or sipping a pale rosé at the post-wedding pool party. Effortless yet memorable.
Marrakech
For something bold, vibrant, and full of sensory richness, Marrakech is magic. The textures, the colours, the ancient walls and crazy souks – wedding ceremonies here feel deeply atmospheric, often blending local traditions such as local musicians. From camel rides in the desert to the morning call to prayer, every detail feels intentional and alive. It’s a place where your wedding won’t just be seen, it will be felt, long after the last lantern goes out.
